
National Pair's & U12 Championships, Tullamore
St Abban’s had a number of athletes in action in the National Pair’s and U12 National Championships held in Tullamore on Sunday 23rd June. These championships are always very competitive as athletes are pitted against the best athletes around the country. On what was a gorgeous day for athletics, the club won gold medals in the U12 Long Jump. Ava Brophy jumped 3.93m and her partner Meabh Kearney jumped 3.36 to take victory. Leo Smith and Liam Doyle also put in fine performances and were rewarded with 3rd place in the Boys U.11 600m. Ava Brophy also ran very well in the 500m winning her heat in the Girls U10. Roisín Kearney just missed out on a medal in the Girls U12 Long Jump when she finished in 4th place with a best of 4.29m. Daire O Sullivan was also in action in the Long Jump where his jump of 3.99m saw him finish in 10th place in the Boys U12 event. Joe Lawlor was the final competitor in action from the club. Joe, competing in the Boys U12 Shot Putt, threw a best of 8.14m which was good enough for 7th place. Well done to all of these young athletes who continue to develop and make progress in athletics. We hope there will be plenty more great days out like this in the coming years.
Delaney takes victory at Tailteann Games
John Delaney continued his fine form this track season when he took victory in the 400m at the Tailteann games held in Santry on Saturday 22nd June. John’s run of 50.10 saw him claim the gold medal and should also see him selected for the Irish School’s International which will be held in Carmarthen, Wales on 20th July. John later returned to compete for Leinster in the 4 by 400m relay where the team also claimed the gold medal with a new Championship record. John has been in blistering form this year, winning Leinster and All Ireland Schools to add to Saturday’s victory.
Fit4Life Summer - Stage 4 Moneenroe
Well done to all the walkers, joggers and runners who took part in Stage 4 of this year's Fit4Life Summer League in Moneenroe. Mick Kelly was first home in a time of 13:09, while Lisa Sweeney was first female across the line clocking 14:49. The next stage of the League will take place in Wolfhill on Wednesday 3rd July.

Athletica Geneve World Athletics Tour
Well done to Saragh Buggy who was competing at the Athletica Geneve World Athletics Tour in Geneva, Switzerland where she finished 4th in the Triple Jump with 12.64m
