Masters Road Race 2nd Club and 3rd County

Leinster Novice & Master's Road Championships

The annual trip to Gowran for the Novice and Master’s Road Championships took place once again this year with a sweltering day welcoming athletes from across Leinster. Niamh Quinn was the club’s only athlete taking part in the Novice Women’s race where she finished in 8th place. In the Master’s Men’s race Colin Coyne showed he is back in form when he took the M45 category. Colin’s time of 20:15 was good enough for 6th overall. Stephen Hunter wasn’t far behind finishing 10th overall in the race and 7th in the M40 race. Thomas Kenny was next home from the club finishing 18th in the race and 6th M35 athlete. Just behind was David McEvoy who finished 7th M35. Philip O Hara completed the St Abbans team when he placed 38th overall and 3rd in the M45 category. The team competed in the m35 category where they placed 2nd club and 3rd county. Liam Byrne also claimed a medal on the day when his 53rd place and 10 M50 saw him score on the Laois M50 County Team who won a bronze medal. In the Master’s Women Karen Kavanagh finished 3rd in the F55 race and 34th in the overall race.
Well done to all of these athletes whose hard work continues to reward them with medals in these races.
