Leinster U20, Senior & Master's T&F Championships 2025

After a busy weekend of juvenile action over the Bank holiday, last weekend was the turn of our Junior, Senior and Masters athletes in the Leinster Track and Field Championships. The Championships were held across 2 days in the SETU Carlow with a good selection of athletes competing from the club across a wide variety of events. On Saturday, Day 1 of the Championships, the club gathered 8 medals. Aoibhin McDonald won gold in the Senior Women’s Pole Vault with a clearance of 2.80m. Peter Condron also claimed a gold medal in the M40 400m with a time of 54.59. John Delaney finished 2nd in the U20 400m in a time of 51.20. Brian Kelly also claimed a silver medal after finishing 2nd in the Senior Men’s 1500m. His brother Ger also claimed silver in the Senior Men’s Weight for Distance after a throw of 5.55m. Tomas Kenny also won silver in the M35 1500m in a time of 4.32. Tom O’ Connor kept the run of silvers going when he finished 2nd in the M70 100m.The final medallist on the day was Niall Harvey who finished just behind Brian in the Senior Men’s 1500m to claim third spot in 4.11. Katie Baldwin has to settle for 6th in the U20 Long Jump and Javelin with a jump of 4.63 and throw of 19.28m.   There was more success for the club on Day 2 where Katie Baldwin took victory in the U20 Triple Jump with a new PB of 10.84m. John Delaney won a gold medal in the U20 Men’s 800m to go with his silver from the 400m. Bernie Lawless was the winner of the W40 Throws Heptathlon with a total of 2487 points after 7 throws events over 2 days. John Territ also took gold in the M60 Throws Heptathlon with a total of 4543 points. In the M50 event, Patsy Baldwin finished 2nd with 3329 points. Similarly in the M70 event, Michael Kelly took the silver medal with 3968 points after 7 events. Saragh Buggy finished 2nd in the Senior Women’s Triple Jump with a jump of 12.79m and there was just 2cm separating the gold and silver medallists. Patsy Baldwin also claimed bronze in the M55 High Jump with a clearance at 1.30m. Despite setting a new PB and Club Record, Ger Kelly narrowly missed out on a podium spot when he finished in 4th in the Senior Men’s Hammer with a throw of 44.17m. Well done to all the athletes who were out representing the club with great pride across the weekend.

Fit4Life Summer League - Stage 3 Rossmore

Stage 3 of the Fit4Life League took place in the picturesque setting of Rossmore on Wednesday last. 153 athletes finished with Ian Molloy (13:37) first home overall and Grace Reilly first female across the line in 15:17. The next stage will take athletes to a new venue in Barrowhouse on Wednesday 18th June. As always registration is open from 6:30pm with the race beginning at 7:30pm.
