Medals Galore at the Leinster Juvenile Indoors

St Abban’s A.C had fantastic representation at the Leinster Juvenile Indoor Championships held at the weekend. In the older age groups, there were several seasoned campaigners looking to add to their collection of medals. The club also had a host of athletes taking part in Leinster competitions for the first time. All the athletes represented the club with great pride and will hope to continue to develop throughout the rest of the indoor season and into the summer months.

On Saturday, the club had a number of medals winners. Abbie Delaney (Shot Putt), Joshua Crosby (Shot Putt), John Delaney (400m) and Lily O’Neill (60m) all picked up gold medals. Joe Lawlor (Long Jump), Elanna Kelly (High Jump) and Will Duffy (1500m) came away with silver medals. Roisin Kearney (Long Jump), Liam Doyle (Long Jump), Shane Kelly (High Jump), Faye Brennan (60m) and Cara English (400m) all claimed bronze medals.

Sunday saw the return of many athletes who had competed on Saturday as well as plenty more from the club. Sinead Fitzpatrick (800m) and Leo Smith (60mH) claimed gold medals. It was silver for Faye Brennan (Long Jump), Oran McCarthy (Shot Putt), Rueben Kelly (60mH), Leo Smith (Long Jump), and John Delaney (800m). Shane Kelly (LJ & 60mH) and Aoife Lawlor (High Jump) took bronze medals. Penelope McMahon, Roisin Kearney, Annabelle Lawlor, and Harry Brennan were unlucky not to medal with 4th place finishes. Well done to all our juveniles who represented the club so brilliantly over the weekend, and best of luck to all those who qualified to complete at Nationals in 2 weeks’ time. A huge thank you also to the volunteers coaches within the club who give so freely of their time to develop each of these athletes and prepare them for competitions.
