Leinster Indoor Athletics 2025

The National Indoor Arena in Abbottstown was the clubs adopted home over the weekend as athletes competed on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the Leinster Indoor U20, Senior and Masters Championships were held there, while on Sunday the Leinster Relay and some field events took place at the same venue. Congratulations to all our club athletes who were competing throughout the weekend, representing the club with great pride and gathering a number of medals and fine performances along the way. 
On Saturday Lucy Fitzgerald had a busy day competing in the U20 60m Sprint, Long Jump and Triple Jump. She was very successful in the Long and Triple Jump where her jump of 5.11m saw her claim bronze in the Long Jump. In the Triple Jump she went one place better when her leap of 10.81m saw her win a silver medal.  Katie Baldwin was also in action in the Long Jump where she finished in 7th place. She was in the medals in the Triple Jump where her leap of 10.36m saw her claim a bronze medal. John Delaney also won a bronze medal in the U20 Men’s 400m when his time of 50.53 was good enough for third. Grace Fitzgerald also had a successful Long Jump when her jump of 5.33m saw her win a bronze medal in the Senior Women’s Long Jump. Aoibheann McDonald’s vault of 2.60m saw her take victory in the Senior Women’s Pole Vault. Eoghan Buggy continued his successful 2025 season when he took gold in the Senior Men’s 400m in a time of 51.25. Like his sister, David Baldwin also won a bronze medal in the Senior Men’s Triple Jump with a leap of 10.03m. Ger Kelly was just outside the medals in the Senior Men’s Shot Putt when he finished in 4th place. He did claim a medal in the Senior Wight For Distance with a throw of 5.44 which was good enough for a silver medal. Dick Mullins took gold in the O75 3000m. Patrick Baldwin capped off a great day for his family when he took gold in the O55 High Jump, 3rd in the Shot Putt and 2nd in the Men’s Weight For Distance. John Territt was also successful on the day, winning the O60 Shot Putt (11.04m) and the Weight For Distance (6.37m).  
On Sunday it was the turn of our juvenile when the the Leinster Juvenile Indoor Championships for 2025 kicked off at the NIA with the Juvenile Relays and Older Juvenile Field Events. It was a fantastic day for the club with our relay teams picking up 6 sets of medals...Girls U13 3rd, Girls U15 3rd, Girls U12 3rd, Girls U14 1st, Boys U14 3rd and our Mixed U17 team 2nd. Congratulations also to Faye Brennan, Lily O’Neill, Cara English, Cathal English & Adam Kelly who all picked up individual medals. A special mention must also go to to all who were competing at Leinster level for the first time. It is great to see so many from the club out representing, and congrats to all those who have now qualified for Nationals.

•    Girls U15 4x200m Relay A - Final 3rd 1:51.47 (Lily O Neill, Zoe Dunne, Robyn Fitzmaurice, Faye Brennan)
•    Girls U15 4x200m Relay B - 4th H3 2:08.79 (Roisin Farrell, Katelyn Higgins, Erin Dagg, Leigha Kenny)
•    Girls U17 4x200m Relay - 4th H2 2:00.30 (Elanna Kelly, Karen Ayres, Aaliyah Troy, Jessica Lawlor)
•    Girls U12 4x200m Relay - Final 3rd (Ava Brophy, Penelope McMahon, Meabh Kearney, Realtin Byrne, Beibhinn Byrne)
•    Boys U12 4x200m Relay - Final 5th 2:05.67 (Leo Smith, Liam Doyle, Tom Condron, Edward McDonald, Reuben Kelly)
•    Girls U14 4x200m A Relay -Final 1st 1:53.22 (Faye Brennan, Sophie Dowling, Roisin Kearney, Sinéad Fitzpatrick, Eabha  Farrell.
•    Girls U14 4x200m B Relay - 3rd H3 2:06.94 (Aoife Lawlor, Bailie Bolton, Abigail Daly, Ella Meabh Lyons)
•    Boys U14 4x200m Relay - Final 3rd 1:58.57 (Charlie McElroy, Shane Kelly, Cathal English, Josh Delaney)
•    U17 Mixed 4x200m Relay - Final 2nd 1:50.56 (Will Duffy, Eoghan Mitchell, Elanna Kelly, Karen Ayres)
Individually in the Girls U17 High Jump Cara English finished in 3rd with a jump of 1.40m, while Aaliyah Troy was just outside the medals in 4th after jumping 1.40m too. In the Girls U14 Triple Jump Faye Brennan was the winner with a leap of 9.29m. Lily O’ Neill finished 2nd in the U15 Triple Jump after a 9.92m jump.  In the Girls U16 Triple Jump Elanna Kelly came in 6th 9.39m while Jessica Lawlor was 8th in 7.98m. In the Girls U17 Triple Jump Aaliyah Troy missed out on a medal when she finished 4th in  9.46m. Cara English did claim a bronze after a hop, skip leap to 9.62m. Cathal English was the winner of the Triple Jump after a 9.03m jump. Adam Kelly also took gold in the Triple Jump when his new PB of 10.55m saw him take victory in the U16 event. In the Boys U17 Shot Putt  Eoghan Mitchell finished 4th with a throw of 9.40m. 
Another fantastic weekend for the club where the versatility of events, athletes and coaches within the club was well and truly on display. Well done to all of those competing and we look forward to seeing more athletes in action as the remainder of the Juvenile Leinster Championships take place.
