Day 2 Laois Uneven Ages and Intermediate Cross Country

Day 2 of the Laois Uneven Ages and intermediate Cross Country took place in the familiar setting of Cappakeel, Emo on Sunday last with a large crowd in attendance from St Abbans. Underfoot conditions were very dry with very little rain on recent days. St Abbans were once again to the fore across all age groups with the club claiming team medals in almost all age groups. Individually, there were a number of winners in the juveniles with Ava Brophy, Conor Keegan, Baille Bolton, Laura Ayers, Will Duffy and John Delaney all claiming golds in their respective age groups. Well done to all our juveniles who took part and we look forward to seeing them in action at the Leinster Championships at the end of the month. From an adult’s perspective, both Intermediate crowns were up for grabs. In the ladies’ race, Audrey Byrne prevailed as the strongest in the field after 4000m. Audrey was followed home by Deirdre Delaney, Carmel Byrne and Karen Kavanagh. In the men’s race Tom Kenny led the St Abbans team home behind the McLoughlin brothers from Oughaval. Tom finished in 3rd and led the club team to silver medals. Alos in action was Paddy Dunne, Liam Byrne, William Kelly, PJ Leonard, Fran Fleming and Tom Fitzgerald. The next Cross Country race will take place on 25th October when the Leinster Novice and Even Ages Cross Country is held in Gowran Co Kilkenny.
