Intervarsities T&F Championships, Mary Peter’s Track Belfast

Our club athletes were in action in alternative colours over the weekend as they represented their colleges at the Intervarsity Track and Field Championships held in the picturesque Mary Peters Track in Belfast. The championships took place across Friday and Saturday with many of the qualifications taking place on Friday for Saturday’s finals session. On Friday, Niall Harvey and Sergio Chico Vazquez went in the 1500m where Niall ran 4:18 and Sergio 4:39. Both athletes returned on Saturday to compete in the 5000m where Niall ran 16:30 and Sergio 18:03, PB’s for both athletes. Ger Kelly was another busy athlete across the weekend for SETU. He finished 5th in the Hammer with a throw of 39.27m, 7th in the Weight For Distance with 6.85m, and 12th in the Shot Putt with a throw of 9.20m

However the standout performer of the weekend was Emily O’Shea who ran superbly to take bronze in the 800m clocking a big PB of 2:18.62. Well done to each of these athletes.
