European Athletics Team Championships, Maribor, Slovenia
Saragh Buggy finished 10th in the Womens Triple Jump at the European Athletics Team
Championships in Maribor, SIovenia over the weekend. Saragh jumped a Season's Best of
12.96m scoring 7 points for the Irish team. The European team Championships work in a
similar way to the National League for clubs, athletes compete across track and field events
scoring points for their position. At the end, scores are added together to give a team an
overall position. Overall, Ireland finish in fifth position in the Division 2 European Athletics
Team Championships with a total of 349 points. Ahead of them were champions Belgium,
hosts Slovenia and Norway who will all be promoted to Division 1. Turkey ended up 33
points ahead of the Irish on 382, but strong performances on both the track and field saw
Ireland stay ahead of Denmark in sixth. Well done to Saragh on yet another international
cap once again showing what a great role model she is for all athletes in our club.
